Peek-A-Boo
As we were relaxing on the terrace, the moon poked her head above the roof opposite to begin her journey across the sky.
We were in a state of shock, however, as earlier in the day, the beautiful Laguna Village just up the road had been completely destroyed by fire.
A photo in extras shows the inferno at full strength.
Laguna Village was a sprawling complex of shops, restaurants, beach clubs and bars, very popular with locals and visitors.
As far as I have been able to ascertain, a fire started across the road in the campo and the extremely strong westerly wind caused the flames to jump the four lane highway and ignite the thatched roofs of the buildings.
In no time the entire place was a roaring furnace.
And now it is just a smouldering wasteland.
Very tragic. I suppose it could have been worse - I have not heard of any casualties.
