WITH A SONG IN MY HEART

Spending Spree!

The weather here was beautiful today so I was able to spend the whole day sorting out the garden for Autumn/Winter.
First though we had to have a trip to Twin Locks Garden Centre as we had no working secateurs. Frank also needed diesel so I said he could leave me at the garden centre and get me on his way back. Perfect! I had time to have a good mooch around and ended up spending rather a lot but it was worth it to be able get the jobs done that I had planned.
I chopped down the broad beans and the raspberry canes - we didn't actually get any fruit off them this year but they were newly planted in Spring,so fingers crossed for next year.
I harvested the rest of the broad beans and the carrots out of one of the tubs.
I weeded and chopped, put the new compost bin in place and it is now half full, cleaned the bird table and put new bord food out - 'no mess food' as the last sack had lots of wheat grain which ended up sprouting everywhere!
Frank came out to harvest the apples and when he went in to get the ladder I heard a noise in the tree. When I looked up a grey squirrel was looking down at me. He was there for ages running from branch to branch. Bella was well excited!
I tried to get a photo but haven't got to grips with the new phone camera grrrr - my last one was easier.
We got loads of apples. We don't know what kind they are as the tree was here when we moved in and its our first harvest. I think they may be cookers because they are so big.
I collected a few slugs and snails and took them to their new home up the road (an overgrown area).
I spent the whole day out there and didn't come in till 8pm.
I'm knackered!
A few more jobs to do out there tomorrow bit now it's book and bedtime!
;-)X
