Tired and grumpy
Last night was a bitch. Poor Maple was unsettled from her first waking again. Tossing and turning and wanting to feed constantly. I would be mid feeding her and then hear one of the twins wake up distressed. It started with Oscar....he is sleeping so lightly at the moment. Bailee rarely wakes up anymore but did last night because of her brother. His cry seems very forced, I feel very sorry for him. I want to know what is going on in his head. He almost seems scared.
So today Bailee especially was grumpy for most of the day. Luckily she has been just the opposite over the last couple of weeks so it was just one of those days. We all got out and had some much needed fresh air.
It is really cute how Oscar and Bailee are thanking each other for everything at the moment. They say it so earnestly; it is an absolute joy to witness.
I decided to add a little bit more routine to Maple's life today. She has just had to fit around the twins until now, and has been an amazing baby doing this for so long. It doesn't seem sustainable any longer as she is getting irritable as she is much more aware of her surroundings now and suddenly seems unable to sleep past one sleep cycle in the day. She did surprisingly well on the new routine today and even slept for 90 minutes. twice. Really strange as I didn't need to do anything accept put her in her cot, add an extra layer of warmth (Air conditioning) and give her a few cuddles.
Maple also had her first few spoons of lumpy mash today. I was planning on doing full baby led weaning but have decided to do more of a mixed spoon/ finger food approach like the twins had as they are the best eaters in the world and I am getting the feeling Maple wants a bit more solids. She loved it and ate it very well. Much better than when I put Bailee and Oscar on solids, her tongue thrust reflux seems to have gone. She enjoyed the lumpy banana rice mix and some mushy apple. I am going to cook up some nice organic carrots for her tomorrow :-)
