Behind the dam.....

Lies the Brook Waimarama bird sanctuary.
The bridge across the top of the dam is the beginning of a walk through the sanctuary. A special fence was built right around the area to keep out all the nasty little predators that like to eat birds and their eggs.
It has been very successful with many volunteers laying traps, keeping the walkway nice, etc.
