Towneley Hall, Park and Gardens.
This is one of our favourite places in Lancashire to take a walk on a fine day. It has been sunny and warm for most of the day.
We spent two hours at Towneley and enjoyed woodland walks along the well maintained paths where there are tall old beech, birch and ancient oak, set in 400 acres. The Hall dates to the 14th century, being a family estate for several generations and is magnificent both culturally and for educational visits by groups and school children.
The Virginia Creeper on the Hall is turning russet and looks very beautiful.
People were out with their children enjoying the Bank holiday and having picnics on the grassed area. Many dogs were loving the woodlands and some were chasing the many grey squirrels.
I hope September will be kind to all of us.
