Bristol Trans Rights Protest 2020
This socially distanced protest that took place in Bristol (specifically on College Green) came about because trans and nonbinary people should be able to live their lives free of discrimination and abuse - it's a direct response to fears of the government will not go forward with plans to reform the GRA (Gender Recognition Act), which would allow trans people to change their legal gender on the basis of "self-identification."
Instead, despite a 70% in favour response regarding a recent consultation with the GRA, according to a Sunday Times report, the UK government intends to scrap the GRA reform and strip away the hard-won rights of trans and nonbinary people.
Why am I posting this? Simple: trans rights are an issue that is close to my heart (I'm nonbinary), and because trans people, like myself, should have the right to live their lives without discrimination and abuse. #TransRightsAreHumanRights
