Trying to figure out...

....how to dismantle the infamous rake gearcase. I was going to leave this job for later, but had nothing particularly urgent to do, so decided to have look at it.

Got this far from the top, then found the next part of the instructions impossible to do, turned it around and got one locking ring removed from the bottom. Then had to take a break, but later found a way to get it actually opened from the bottom side.

I have the instructions, but they are some problems. First, it's written for the left side gearcase, which is not only mirrored from the right side, but also partly upside down, or rather the right side one is upside down, as the cover part is in the bottom. This is a problem as the things inside are still much the same way, and I can't reach a very important bolt from the bottom. Second, some parts of the instructions are just too simple, like "open cover", without telling how to. Managed to solve a couple of those though, but had to quit when I noticed that I don't have the right size of pliers to remove some of the locking rings.
