Victorian Grandeur

What a contrast to yesterday's bleak weather. Today the temperature was still hovering around freezing but the grey damp gloom was replaced by bright cheerful sunshine and blue sky.

I took a wander in the botanical garden in Edinburgh at lunchtime. I thought the Tropical Palm House looked rather splendid in the sunshine. It was built in 1834 at a cost of £1,500 and is adjoined by the Temperate Palm House which was built by Robert Matheson 28 years later. I think they are both wonderful examples of Victorian architecture.

Looks better large.
