Grevillea
There are no hummingbirds on it.
There are no bees on it.
Yet still these blooms outside the kitchen window
fascinate me.
So I photograph it yet again,
unadorned.
Every time I look closely at these remarkable blooms, I think of Blipper Freespiral.
When your doctor sends you a recorded robo call telling you how important your health is to her and it's time for you to make an appointment, can you ignore it? I think I shall. I'm sure my age is showing, but something just a bit more personal is needed to drag me out of my safe place and into the maw of the latest COVID hot spot.
Some spots of hope on the battery front. David, our contractor friend has asked if we would like him to send his electrician over tomorrow. We said yes! Ali has said he will come back next week with a helper (an electrician?) but if we can get the wiring mystery solved before then, it might speed the process up.
The days are discernibly shorter now, but the beginning of September is not the end of the hot weather but the beginning of fire season here. I'm hoping that the early fires in August means that the worst is over, but September and October bring the Santa Ana winds and no promise of cooler weather or rain for another six weeks. Sometimes it seems like there can't be anything left to burn.
It is only a sort of vague discussion now, but John and I have talked about the possibility of moving to a smaller place on a flatter lot closer to town...perhaps in Sebastopol. It's not going to happen immediately, but the seed has been planted. We wonder how many times more we can go through this again....
