BLACK SWAN (Cygnus atratus)
The black swan came to NZ from Australia apparently about the 1980's
They are quite big in numbers on our Lake Ellesmere, where they can be considered a pest. They are game birds and can be shot in the bird shooting season - popular with some not so with others.
