Bothwell Street Clock

Glasgow's grand buildings includes our Glasgow Office (my home base) - the Scottish Legal Life Building on Bothwell Street. Completed in 1931, it is a fine example of Art Deco styling and architecture, and is easily recognisable by the musical clocks on each corner.

The building is also part of Scotland's secret history (or should that be its Urban Myths?). It is said that Rudolf Hess, Hitler's Deputy, was been held prisoner in the basement whilst in trasit to a prisoner of war camp. He was arrested after his dramatic flight to Scotland in May 1941 to meet with the Duke of Hamilton and broker a peace settlement between Britain and Germany.
