The Splash

I have heard people speak of The Splash, but hadn’t realised that it was a place by the bank of the River Mole where it flows between Leatherhead and Fetcham. It is reached down a road suitably called River Lane. It used to be a road one didn’t venture down, but it has cleaned up its act and there are new houses on little closes. Near the river is a spot known as The Splash which is popular for teenage gatherings, They would make quite a splash if they swung on that rope and let go over the river.
I visited the river after shopping in Sainsbury’s. It was much busier than it has been of late, and there was more traffic about. The schools are back now, maybe that is what has made the difference.
