Balsam bashing - serious work

7 or 8 years ago this bank of the river Kent in Kendal was thick with Himalayn Balsam, but with successive clearing by dedicated volunteers it is now almost clear. The steep banks and high water level made it a bit difficult to work today, not to mention the nettles, brambles and fallen branches, but hey, we're making a difference!
