Drip! Drip!

Today was our last day on Belle-île-en-Mer, and with storms forecast all day we weren't sure what was going to happen. We had some strong winds and heavy rain overnight, but a few hours of dry but dismal weather in the morning, enough to pack the tent and our things up in the dry. We then ambled out of the camp site and into town, where we got some local food from the market for lunch. It didn't seem so bad so we walked south along the coast to the beach at Bordardoué, from where we could take the bus home.

Today's blip is the fresh water cistern La Belle Fontaine / Aiguade Vauban, which collects fresh water which then can be collected by passing ships. It's one of only two remaining ones in a all of France and has recently been renovated, but there is not explanation of how it works at all, which is a shame.

When we got to the beach we ate our lunch and had a look at the twisted geology (see extra). We had a sudden downpour that lasted about 1 minute, but it was basically bright and sunny all the time we were there.

We then walked to the bus stop, only to realise I'd look at the wrong page on the timetable, so we walked back along the GR instead. We still had loads of time to kill, so we had a very nice pain au raisin and waited for our ferry crossing back to the mainland.

The ferry crossing was a bit choppy to say the least, but I was fine but I think my wife would have prefered less bouncing, and my mother-in-law was waiting for us at the ferry terminal so we made it back to her house without a problem.
