Or to a fire. Getting "fit tested" for my SCBA mask. We wear the mask, attach a respirator to it (no air tank) and then don the hood, the hood is then filled with a chemical which supposedly smells horrid and we are told to walk around breathing normally for 1 minute. If we dont smell/taste anything weird then the mask is a good fit. We do this annually to make sure the SCBA mask is still fitting proper and not damaged in any way.
