Highgate cemetery - A life cut short

Saw quite a lot of these pillars cut at an oblique angle. I enquired and found that they symbolised a life cut short or before its time. The other symbol l saw a lot of was an urn with a veil over it and this symbolised the passing of the soul from one life to another.
Extra is of a life cut short - that of Alexander Litvinenko, the Russian spy, who was poisoned with polonium. He was buried in a lead coffin.
