Honeysuckle

While our car was being serviced in Carlisle this afternoon we walked through Kingsmoor Nature Reserve for an hour or so.

Always lovely to see and smell honeysuckle growing wild in the hedgerows.

It's nectar rich scented flowers attract moths, which are preyed upon by bats. Blue tits love honeysuckle as do lace wings and ladybirds. Blackbirds, Pied Flycatchers and Dormice make nests from it's material. It's juicy red berries are loved by Song Thrushes and squirrels.
