The Minister’s Road

Never tell people about the walk you’re going to do when it’s a bit unknown and could be destined to failure.  V said we’re going to walk the Minister’s Road from Kilninian to Calgary and back, two hours each way.  HAH!  Charlotte looked appalled but it was when Somerset also looked alarmed and started giving us tips on how to get over the deer fence that we should have worried.  Although windy, the weather was on our side but once we had got over the deer fence we literally got so bogged down that we realised we’d never make both directions and had no means to get home from Calgary with the car at Kilninian.   So we turned back and had lunch and a walk on Black Beach with the tide well out so it looked fantastic. How the flipping minister did it every Sunday I’ll never know.   Still there were compensations,  a beautiful river and gorge up there, wonderful heather and this amazing herd of deer which look so much more epic out here than they do in RIchmond Park!
