Mushrooms and Pigs

We have heard that there are plenty of mushrooms around after the recent rains and warm weather. A girlfriend took me out to her secret spot in a local forest to look for some this morning. Everyone who goes mushrooming has a secret spot they won't tell you about in case the best ones get taken before they get to them. It was a beautiful morning and the forest was stunning with the moss, wild Heidelbeer (a type of blueberry),  cranberries and blackberries. The ground was covered in pale mauve wild Erica (see extra) which is apparently a sign that autumn is coming. We were in luck today and came home with so many mushrooms I spent the afternoon cleaning and chopping mushrooms for soup, sauces and freezing. Hubby helped with the cleaning and arranged some of them on a plate for my Blip. Not too bad, I thought.
We acquired some wild pig this week and I decided to try the loins on the BBQ along with some mushrooms. They were absolutely delicious and incredibly tender.
