Regimental HQ

This is my last evening at Topcliffe for a while. I will be based near Wakefield permanently from now on. I've really enjoyed being here. It's connected to the 4th Regiment Royal Artillery and I've loved wandering around the grounds looking at all the military buildings.

I guess I wish I'd joined the military many moons ago. The grounds and the buildings feel strangely empty - there's hardly anyone here at all.

I wonder where they all are.

During the war when the base was totally RAF, Wellingtons, Halifaxes, Lancasters, Spitfires and Hurricanes were based here. The place is full of memories of victory and loss -  and ghosts.
