Eclectic
I always wondered what lay behind this giant door, and today I got to find out. Entirely unsurprisingly it has concrete wine vats lining both sides. But it's now an art gallery, currently exhibiting local artist Marc Troupel's work (he owns the barn). It's intriguing ... as well as painted portraits he has made strange tableaux out of random small items like lego bricks, dice, dolls, playing cards which are quite spooky. And a couple of large boards featuring a grid of photos of 40s film stars and jazz singers. I enjoyed looking at them. His dad was there and told me he is planning to add a retractable stage for concerts. See extras for a couple more views of this interesting space.
It's the Festival Son Miré this weekend, in a somewhat cut down form. There's basically no live music, instead there are film projections, a photo exhibition, and electronic pieces, all performed outdoors. I've missed all of it up till now, so after spending longer than intended in the gallery I went to try out the siesta concert behind the sports hall. Speakers ringed a group of deckchairs while a guy in the middle manipulated the electronic sounds coming out of them. It was surprisingly well attended; there were about 20 people there. It was warm in the late afternoon sun, but I didn't doze off and soon got a bit bored with it, so I went home.
