Burton Dassett

If you have driven up the M40, you may have seen this curious tower on a hill to the Eastern side of the motorway between Banbury and Warwick.

The hills are evidence of an ancient sea of the Jurassic period and a park warden gave us a private demonstration of this today when he showed us some rocks full of fossilised sea creatures from the site which had been used to build the toilets.  The tower is on the site of an ancient windmill destroyed in a storm - twice!

We were on a lovely 6 mile walk around and over the hills,  during which we stopped for an excellent pint at a pub in Avon Dassett
