About to turn

Sky Meadows

A lovely sunny day. Took the kids to our favorite state park, 50 minutes or so away on the ridge. There's a lovely old farmhouse and cabin (extra) and miles of hiking, with connection to the AT, and a campground. We tent camped there a few years ago. This evening we hiked up the North Ridge Trail, which had me grateful I was obliged to stop every few yards to take a picture. Mercy.

Drove home in the dusk, then darkness, along Rt. 50. This is also called the John S. Mosby highway after the "gray ghost" of the Civil War, who led his raiders in blitz attacks on the Union troops. The road runs past gorgeous old farms and vineyards and through the little towns of Atoka and Upperville (we call it Uppityville) and most famously Middleburg (halfway between Alexandria and Winchester, George Washington's old haunts).

Three anniversaries this long weekend: Harry and Ellie's 53rd, my mom and stepdad's 10th, and our 22nd. Harry continues amazingly well. I suspect he really wants to vote in November. :)
