Bird of prey..Buzzard

Help. I am not an expert on birds. I was very lucky to catch this magnificent bird surveying the scene close to my home. I had never seen one before in Kirkcaldy, so it was a quick piece of camera retrieval and snap!. Could experts amongst you, tell me what this is?

My guess at the moment is.....I've been informed: Its a Buzzard. Wow.

I tried to get closer, but it soon shot off, flying magnificently to another vantage point. I feel so lucky to have seen it in the wild, let alone to have captured it.
