Hearing test

Mack has never yet had his newborn hearing test.

A nice lady from Audiology came to the ward this morning to carry it out. However, he was too awake and wriggly for it to work. Apparently it's much easier to do on brand new babies because they are usually fast asleep and very still. Mack was being a typical wriggly 7 week old, so the nice lady will return tomorrow to try again, in the hope that she arrives when he's taking a nap.

We had a jaunt off the ward this morning to the MediCinema, which doubles up as a lecture theatre. A doctor came and asked if I would mind answering questions from him in front of a theatre full of 4th year medical students. When I clarified that it wasn't role play, but just real questions, I was happy enough to oblige - anything for a change of scenery! The purpose of the interview was to demonstrate to the students how to take a medical history from a paediatric patient. Mack behaved impeccably and was wide awake throughout, mesmerised by the theatre lights.

Mack still seems to have some trapped wind, so he's now been prescribed Infacol. Hopefully that does the trick.
