Windy Over, Muddy Under.
Bridges are marvellous feats of engineering, whether ancient or modern. This one remains the most beautiful of the two motorway bridges crossing the river Severn and onward over the Wye via the often overlooked Wye Bridge that forms the western part of the crossing. The brown waters of the Severn pass by below.
Having spent a morning pushing volts into Molly Campervan's leisure bettery - so flat this morning even the battery charger refused to fire up, and I needed to use the emergency jumper battery to convince the charger there was even a battery there to charge - we took her for a spin over the. bridge and down to Beachley.
This shot is taken from the path beside the MOD barracks that runs down to the cable tunnel access shaft where I spent many a happy hour, and some interminably bothersome days, keeping audio and data services working in the two and a half mile long tunnel deep (well, depending on the tide sometimes not very deep at all) under the river.
