ON THE BEACH

The house is breathing a sigh of relief after several boxes of kitchen appliances, space heaters and unwanted clothes were collected by the British Heart Foundation this morning. They told me they could turn up any time after 8am so I was up early (for me) feeling inexplicably exhausted but then B told me that I'd been making panicky noises in my sleep as though being pursued by something scary so perhaps that's what wore me out, though I have no recollection whatever of it. I nipped down to the beach for some fresh air where I saw this lovely stone. Then I shopped to stock up the fridge and shelves with supplies for B as he'll be on his own for a fortnight from Friday when I go to Mum's.

He's no longer able to read labels on food packaging or the dials on the oven so everything has to be heatable on the hob or in the slow cooker or toaster, or microwaveable on full power for a specific number of minutes/button presses which I shall write on the packages in very large letters on bright coloured Post-It notes. It has to be said that even if neither of us ate anything for two weeks we (and particularly B) have enough padding not to come to harm! (And he can still find his own way to the chippy and corner shop if he takes his stick and is careful crossing the roads.)
