Canada, Pink Footed and Swan Goose #68,#69,#70

It was a damp start to our next little break away. We dropped in to WWT Martin Mere but I was a bit disappointed to be honest. They were doing some maintenance (strimming) on the main scrape so there were very few birds about apart from in the distance. However, we did see Kestrels and Marsh Harriers hunting in the distance and a barn owl put in an appearance too. 
The pink footed geese have started to arrive again for the winter. You might be able to spot the odd one in my blip along with a huge flock of Canada Geese.  Also in today’s blip are three Swan Geese. I’d never heard of this type of goose before and initially misidentified it as Egyptian goose, but on closer inspection it was obviously not. They are not common in the UK unless they are part of a collection or domesticated, so it’s likely that these three are escapees from somewhere. 

After lunch we made our way to Braithwaite which took longer than expected due to a delay on the M6, and had an early dinner. 

As it has been raining since we got here I’m not sure it’s a great idea to do our usual walk around Buttermere tomorrow as it does get very wet around there, so I’m now looking for somewhere a tad drier. Let’s see what I can find.
