The Bachelors of Dubai

Thats what the workers are referred to here, Dubai's "Batchelors"

If youve not heard of these chaps, they are they very heart of Dubai.

Tens of thousands of young male Indian (and Philipino) workers are imported into the country to do all the jobs no one wants to do. They get paid an absolute pittance, and usually work 10-12 hour days, right through the summer when the temperatures are soaring into the 50's. A large portion of them labour on the roads and construction sites, when they are done they are bused back out to the desert where they live in large compounds built to house them

I've been meaning to blip these guys for ages, but its tougher than it sounds. Most barely speak English so asking permission is actually quite tough, as none of them trust the motive of the picture.

Most that I've spoken to say no to a picture as they think I'm some sort of spy from whichever firm they work for, looking for evidence of them not doing their jobs. Which makes me think this must happen - a very harsh reality in the light that these guys probably take home in a month what your last food shop cost.
