Laughing Dove - Spilopelia senegalensis
Charmaine & Ronnie were called to inspect the security fencing with some other members of the home owners committee this afternoon and I decided to walk with them to see how the birdlife has changed, since I haven't really done lots of blipwalks lately!
I love the laughing doves, they are so peaceful and beautiful. This little beauty drew my attention this afternoon because it sat so quiet and alone. I immediately loved the composition of the scene! ;-)
The Laughing Dove is a long-tailed, slim pigeon, typically 25 cm (9.8 in) in length. The sexes are indistinguishable in the field. Their chuckling call is a low rolling croo-doo-doo-doo-doo with a rising and falling amplitude. Thanks to Wikipedia.
This one is surely better in LARGE!
