Rose Hip time..

The rose hip or rosehip, also called rose haw and rose hep, is the accessory fruit of the rose plant. It is typically red to orange, but ranges from dark purple to black in some species.


When I was a child my mother dosed me, over winter, with Rose Hip Syrup, which is particularly rich in Vitamin C. As a child growing up in the 1960s in industrial north west England, I would guess that we needed all the vitamin C we could get !


I recall it’s sweetness so didn’t mind taking it, unlike the hated Cod Liver Oil, which was also in my mother’s pharmacopeia of winter remedies!
