A Winter Retreat

This winter we have really appreciated our escape from the weather by spending it in the south of Spain. Where we live in France provides us with wonderful spring, summer and autumn weather. But the winter is usually very cold, and this year has been miserably wet, too (we have been monitoring it from a distance).

My return to the UK in January for two weeks of launch events for The Chessmen, was a rude reintroduction to the weather we left behind nearly 12 years ago now. Ironically the best weather I had was in the Hebrides, sunny though COLD!

But I had a heavy work schedule this winter and felt the need of sunlight spilling through my study window to keep me sane. Two books later I am glad I did.
