The mysterious man in black

Is this mysterious man in black, who stands guarding the Castle gatehouse in his merrie swishy cloak and his jaunty hat, the ghost of a cavalier who once defended Skipton Castle against Cromwell's roundheads? Skipton Castle was certainly a cavalier stronghold during the Civil War all those years ago.
