Comfort viewing?

I know that a series was made from James Herriot's books previously (a long time previously) and perhaps this is a good time for a remake. I am interested that the opening titles have gone so firmly for a fifties look. A friend of mine had Alf White AKA James Herriot as a vet. She spoke very highly of him
