Tools of the Trade - Part I
An archaeologist gets very attached to his/her trowel. I call this my 'Soil Shifter' and its my everyday trowel. It replaced 'Son of Beast' when he passed away around three years ago. I've always got two on the go, one larger one and one for more delicate work.
I've only had 5 in 8 years which I think is pretty good going. 'Son of Beast' broke on a dig at George Heriots School in 2010, whilst his predecessor 'The Beast' went a similar way at Gogar in 2008. On the same job I also lost my first trowel.
I think you can tell an awful lot about a person from his/her trowel.... Any thoughts?
