Every year on this day the local firemen raise a large flag from a ladder truck over the highway, to remember 9.11. Another smoky day, mostly spent indoors. Trying to watch news about the firefighting progress goes like this: The local news reports that 40,000 people have been evacuated, 500,000 are under some level of “prepare to leave” order. The national news reports that 500,000 people have been evacuated. And so it goes.
