Three bags full!
It’s the start of the making season and Chris went to the supermarket this morning and got sugar, vinegar, apples, sultanas and onions for his chutney (tomato) making and a bottle each of gin and vodka!
The other day he went to my friend’s and collected 3 bags of damsons from her garden. We won’t be using them all, we have put some aside for two friends and washed some for the freezer for later use, but the main purpose is to make damson gin and, this year, vodka. It will be ready for Christmas and will be given away then too.
It’s certainly the simplest and probably the nicest thing to use them for. We’ve made Damson chutney and jam between us before but they’re not favourites and the stone removal is a pain.
So it’s the season and the C word (already said!) starts here even though we’re told the summer will be back in the UK over the next few days.
