Smokey sunset
I finally got out for a bit of a hike today. While there was still a fair amount of smoke (cough, cough), I needed to get out a bit.
The whole time I was hiking, the sun was hidden by the smoke and had that dingy reddish look. Then I noticed the sun getting redder and redder as it sank to the horizon. This is what it looked like.
This was taken on my phone and not retouched.
I came home to a late dinner, and as we were eating, the smoke came back in earnest. Once again, we can't see more that about 1/4 mile. It is so bad that the lights from the city are completely obliterated.
I can't help by think about all those firefighters, putting their lives at risk to stop these horrendous fires - some of which were caused by careless people - and in some cases purposely set. I am truly thankful to all that they do.
