More of the Old Days
While looking for a book in my shelves today I spotted these old gardening magazines which I probably bought on eBay some time ago. It was most likely because of the Beverley Nichols connection, as I collect anything to do with his books or writings. They were more like 'coffee table' magazines I think, rather than practical gardening books and many prominent authors of the day wrote for them. They were published between 1934 and 1951 and the issue on the left is Number 1!
Limerick of the Day:
A inventive composer named Grieg
Filled his life and his scores with intrieg.
Spent too much time thinking
Not helped by his drinking,
And collapsed on the bar from fatieg.
