We took advantage...
... of this morning's lovely weather, taking a walk in the country.
We did a circuit of Thruscross Reservoir in Nidderdale. I spotted this tree during the walk.
The reservoir was created in the 1960's by flooding a valley, including the village of West End. Parts of the village can sometimes be seen when the water level is very low.
Fans of the author Peter Robinson might be interested to know that the area features in his novel 'In a Dry Season'; it is based on a fictional village of Hobb's End (with similarities to West End) where a body is found during a drought.
The extra shows a remnant of the village on the other side of the reservoir from the tree photo.
