The Bon Accord Baths

Opened in 1947 the Bon Accord Baths is where generations of Aberdonians swam. It was a full 50 yard pool  and 15ft deep at the diving board end.  You were a real man if you could jump off the 2nd top board and I never ventured any higher. It is/was a beautiful Art Deco building with a gym and steam rooms. It closed in 2008 and has been lying empty. A local group are working on plans for a renovation and are fund raising. They opened the building to allow locals a look this weekend and we queued for over an hour for a limited look and a walk down memory lane.
With a heating system that dates from the 1940s and a lack of double glazing it will be an enormous task to raise the millions required to renovate the building.
