Old Powerhouse

Situated on the top on the West Bank side of the Maruia River is an old powerhouse. This was decommissioned in the mid 1970's when it became too uneconomical to run due to the constant blockages when river rose in flood. The machinery that was inside this power house has been taken out and was taken down to Cascade Creek in Fiordland to generate power down there.
