Tortoiseshell, hoverfly and the Verbena

Today's the day …………………… to share

A lovely sunny, mild afternoon and the garden was full of nectar-gathering insects and butterflies.

They loved the big flower heads of the Sedum spectabile (see extra) that are just opening up now.  But the verbena was still the place to go - with this tortoiseshell butterfly and (I think) a hoverfly of some sort, sharing one of the lofty platforms.

The best place to be on a day like today ………………….
