While the south of the UK basked in sunshine and heat wave were under cloud cover. It was mild and eventually reached 19oC. But not basking weather.

Instead got on with church emails, took the mower in for servicing, discovered some carpet under the paperwork I am slowly tidying up and picked less than a kilo of tomatoes today. The season is slowing down.

We went out to a garden centre and I spied these. They are a psychedelic cross between Bill and Ben ( younger readers look up children’s TV from the 50s) and a scarecrow.

Would you pay good money to have one in your garden?
