Solace Day 8 New For Old

We had a very nice journey down the Trent & Mersey canal, heading south. We had a lot of locks to get through so I got off the boat and helped. What that means is, as The Man was letting The Mate with the boat out of one lock, I was down at the next lock making sure it was filled and opening the gate for The Mate to cruise straight into it. This work by the 3 of us saves a lot of time.

I always enjoy a walk down the Stone locks. I've been looking at how things are changing in canal usage. The owner of this one-time brewery site has demolished the old buildings and is creating a pub, arts centre and theatre complex. Locals said there were no parking facilities nearby. That could be a problem.
