Abbey Ruins
Cambuskenneth Abbey is, all but the bell tower, a ruin. The various areas of the Abbey are laid out in stones on the ground and these outlines give an idea of the form of the buildings. King David I founded the Abbey in 1140 and it suffered badly during the Reformation. This ruin sits on the river bank, beyond the boundary of the Abbey buildings. No-one seems to know what it was or why it survived, at least in part, the zealous Reformers
The blip is taken well away from the Abbey, in fact on the other side of the river. I've blipped the cattle before and the hills, as usual, provide the backdrop. I was out with Flora in increasingly pleasant sunshine and a decent temperature.
The news is so worrying. But it's good to know that grouse shooting can go ahead in groups of up to 30 even if we can't see our families.
