There was a Comma butterfly feeding on the brambles again but it was the beauty of the uncommon Chicory plants growing by the field which attracted my attention.   The photo of the eleven petalled flower and its dark blue anther tubes with the styles split into two like snakes’ tongues is a better photo but in reality I thought the fuller flower was actually more attractive.  I was surprised to see the variation in the flowers but there can be between 8 and 25 petals.
