The Battle of the Cheesecakes

For a long time, my wonderful cousin Hazel has urged me to make Great Aunt Ethel's cheesecake (Ethel Lezard 1875-1957)

And I have steadfastly refused as there is no finer cheesecake in the world than the one shown on these pages before

In June, Hazel followed her husband Rael into the Intensive Care Unit in a Johannesburg hospital, both having contracted Covid-19.
As she was stretchered away, she phoned me, as one does, and made me promise to make Aunt Ethel's cheesecake.

Hazel is now recovering at home; sadly Rael never made it.

Here is the cheesecake, fulfilling my promise.

It is good, but Hoz, but it is not as good. I knew it wouldn't be and I told you so.

The proof of the pudding.....

This Blip is dedicated to Rael.
