A highlight of the day was a fine lunch with old friends. These occasions are more precious these days and it was great to catch up. Their daughter is getting married in Northern Ireland next month (pandemic allowing) so they are keeping tabs on the lockdown rules across there. And we all acknowledged how hard it is for young folk these days. It used to be older generations told younger generations how lucky they were and then recount the privations they had to endure. I don’t think we’re in a position to do that.
