Laughter after the chaos.
Back blipped on 16th Sept
It is quite normal in Sweden for the light fittings to be removed when you move house. The previous residents of R's house had actually left many behind, but had taken the one on the stairs, leaving wires with clips on the end. Neither R nor G was tall enough to sort this out, so W was requested to see if he could help. He decided the only sensible solution was to construct a platform to allow ladder access. He finished this today, and we co-opted S, Z's boyfriend, to clamber up and fit the replacement that R had bought.
Unfortunately, when power was restored, there was a short, which fused a good part of the house lights and sockets! R and G learnt a bit about some slightly idiosyncratic circuits in their house, and poor Robin couldn't settle to sleep due to the unscheduled darkness, and the shenanigans outside his bedroom! Sorting it out required a late night visit by G to a supermarket to buy a replacement fuse.
Meanwhile, I shortened a dress for Z - power to the conservatory, where my sewing machine was residing was minimally affected.
Eventually it was all sorted. The source of the short circuit was located and cured, the fuses all replaced, and the house was back to full functioning. Robin dropped off to sleep and the adults had a celebratory drink.
